Leadership is about behaviours that can be learned. Our student leadership programs provide opportunities for students to explore the behaviours and practices of exemplary leadership. Through active participation in adventure-based activities, participants will learn how to become more effective, collaborative, and empathetic leaders in their communities.
Leadership in Action is a great program for empowering students involved in student government, Specialist High Skills Majors programs, and who would like to improve their skills for leading and working with others effectively.

Student Leadership in Action
Student Leadership in Action is a one-day program that takes place at Canterbury Hills, or at one of our partner sites. Students will have the opportunity to identify their own leadership skills as well as the behaviours that promote effective positive leadership. Students will be immersed in a series of problem-solving activities, large group initiative tasks, and vertical climbing challenges that will provide opportunities to practice current and new leadership skills. Participants will engage in structured reflection sessions designed to help transfer and apply their insights and observations from the day to their current settings and future paths.
Student Leadership Challenge
Utilizing the Student Leadership Practices Inventory®
Enhance the student leadership learning experience by including The Student LPI® Assessment. Based on the book The Student Leadership Challenge, this assessment measures the frequency in which students practice 30 identified effective leadership behaviours. This assessment provides opportunities for students to understand their behaviours and how they can improve and develop over time. Adventureworks! will organize and administer the assessment and will use them as a reference in our Student Leadership in Action and Virtual Leadership programs.
This assessment is a great resource for students that can help them leverage their leadership strengths today and into the future
Virtual Leadership
Leadership is important even when groups are not meeting in the same physical space. Virtual Leadership engages students in 2—60 minutes sessions that include interactive activities that explore the key behaviours of effective leaders. Students will be provided opportunities to reflect on, and practice, their current personal leadership skills and on those they would like to acquire. We will organize virtual sessions on familiar web-based platfoms.
Summer Camp Leadership
Leadership programs are often a staple of summer camp programs. Not only do they provide opportunities for older campers to stay engaged at camp but they also allow for the further development of skills that will be useful in a camper’s future. A great leadership program provides opportunities for growth and learning beyond being physically at camp and during this pandemic camps have adapted in very creative and awesome ways. Our Preparing Youth to Lead program immerses young leaders in a series of experiential learning and reflection activities that focus on effective leadership practices and behaviours. This program will help students identify how to utilize and develop their personal leadership skills in current, and future, education, personal, and career settings. This program can be delivered virtually in a 90 to 120 minute session and can be enhanced by including the Student Leadership Personal Inventory. This assessment measures the frequency in which youth practice 30 identified effective leadership behaviours and how to improve their personal leadership approach. This assessment is a great resource for youth that can help them leverage their leadership strengths today and into the future.
