Our response to coronavirus

Like everyone we are concerned about the spread of the Coronavirus disease. Our first priority is to the health and well-being of our guests, participants, and employees. We understand that we all have a role to play in reducing the risks of transmission and slowing the spread of this virus.

Canterbury Hills

We are taking the following steps to reduce the risk of transmission between guests at our Retreat and Learning Centre at Canterbury Hills. First, we have undertaken an expanded program of cleaning and disinfection at our facilities. This will include more frequent cleaning of high transmission surfaces and areas including dining tables & benches, counter tops, and washroom areas. We will continue our regular cleaning and disinfection of sleeping before and after departure of our guests. Second, we will be providing additional hand sanitizing stations and tissues in high traffic areas.

We would further recommend that guests who are exhibiting coronavirus symptoms refrain from visiting our centre. Additionally, guests who have travelled from affected areas as listed by Health Canada in the past 14 days also refrain from visiting our centre.

We understand that some groups will cancel their visit to our centre. In these cases we will be waiving our usual deposit policies. We will be happy to transfer any deposits to a future visit.

Challenge Course Certifications and LEAP Series

At this time we intend to run all of the courses currently listed on our schedule. We will be taking all of the precautions listed above and will also refrain from leading activities that involve close physical contact between participants. We understand that individuals will need to make personal choices about their continued participation in these courses for their own health and well-being. If you choose to withdraw from a course due to health concerns we will be happy to either transfer your registration to a later course date or provide you with a full refund.

We will continue to monitor the ongoing situation. At a future date we may decide to cancel particular courses. In this case we will transfer your registration fee to a later or re-scheduled course date, or refund you the full fee if the future dates are not convenient for you.

On-site Trainings

We recognize that many camps and outdoor centres will be re-evaluating their spring plans. We understand that this may result in the cancellation or postponement of training we are contracted to provide at their site. In this case we will be waiving our cancellation policies and will allow for the transfer of any deposits to re-scheduled or future training.

Keeping our staff safe and healthy
We are concerned for the health and well-being of our staff. We will be limiting their travel as much as possible during the upcoming spring season in order to reduce the risk of their contracting the coronavirus. It is possible that one or more of our team will become unavailable due to illness or isolation. As we are a small team it may be necessary to make adjustments to our schedule. We would in advance ask for your patience in these circumstances.

We will continue to monitor this situation and will provide updates as we respond to the changing nature of this health crisis.
