Brian Lisson

Brian Lisson - President / Founder

Brian has been actively involved in facilitating adventure experiences, building ropes courses and training adventure leaders for over twenty five years. He has also been Camp Director at Canterbury Hills, a sessional lecturer at McMaster University, and Director of Professional Development Programs at Outward Bound Canada.

Brian has worked with a wide variety of clientele. He has facilitated programs for human service professionals, teachers, corporate teams, students, young offenders and therapy groups.

Brian has presented internationally at the Association for Experiential Education Conference and the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT). He has presented locally at many professional organizations including OCA, BCCA, PRO, and COEO. Brian is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Association for Challenge Course Technology and a member of the National Safety Committee of Outward Bound Canada.




Kathy Haras

Kathy Haras, Ph.D. - Vice President / Principal Consulant

Kathy is Vice President and Principal Consultant for Adventureworks! Associates Inc. She has been facilitating outdoor adventure experiences for over 15 years. Kathy has worked with a variety of clientele including; corporate management teams, people with disabilities, and Olympic athletes.

Kathy holds Bachelors degrees in Outdoor Recreation and Natural Science, a Masters Degree in Recreation Administration and a Ph.D. in Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences from Texas A&M University. Kathy has taught at McMaster, Brock, and Lakehead Universities.

Kathy is a TSSA licensed ADMR-Zip Line Mechanic and an ACCT certified Inspector – Supervisor. Kathy is a member of the ACCT Design, Performance, and Inspection Standards Committee.




Adam Brown

Adam Brown - Senior Consultant / Director of Challenge Course Design & Installation Services

Adam has worked in the camping and outdoor education field for more than 10 years, and was most recently a Co-Director of Cairn Presbyterian Camping.

Adam is a Challenge Course Trainer/Tester and an experienced challenge course professional. He has facilitated programs for a wide variety of participants, including students, teachers, professional groups and community organizations. He has extensive experience designing leadership and community building experiences. He holds a degree in Politics from Trent University and has presented for numerous organization including the International Camping Fellowship, the Association for Challenge Course Technology, the Ontario Camps Association and the Quebec Camping Association.




Kevin Lindner

Kevin Lindner - Senior Consultant / Director of School & Youth Programs, and The Adventure Learning Centre at Canterbury Hills

Kevin is the Director of School & Youth Programs, and The Adventure Learning Centre at Canterbury Hills. He has worked in the camping and outdoor education industry for more than 15 years. His previous experience directing at CYO Camp Brebeuf and Tim Horton Onondaga Farms, and directly supervising children and youth programs with the City of Stratford, City of Cambridge, and the Kinbridge Neighbourhood Association has enabled him to plan and facilitate diverse experiential programs for all participants. He utilizes his love for new experiences and the outdoors to build relationships amongst participants in diverse populations, the school sector, and summer camp programs.

Kevin holds a degree in Bachelor of Arts, Recreation and Leisure Studies from the University of Waterloo. He has taught at Conestoga College in the Recreation and Leisure Services Program facilitating the Group Dynamics and Inclusive Recreation courses. Kevin is a Director at Large with the Council of Outdoor Educators of Ontario (COEO) and has volunteered on Ontario Camping Association Committees. He has presented at the Horwood Conference (COEO) and Parks and Recreation Ontario (PRO).




Jay Blackwood

Jay Blackwood, B.F.A., B.Ed., O.C.T. - Senior Consultant

Jay has spent the last decade providing programming, training, and support for adventure and outdoor education programs. In addition to his facilitation work with a wide-range of participants, he has co-ordinated summer camping and leadership development programs for Canterbury Hills Camp, YMCA Camp Chippewa, and YMCA Camp Elphinstone.

Jay holds a degree in Fine Arts from Ryerson University, and a Bachelor of Education from The University of Western Ontario, and is an Ontario Certified Teacher in the Primary & Junior divisions. His experience as an educator has included assisting classroom instruction in the Upper Grand, and Hamilton-Wentworth District School Boards, and a faculty position with Upper Canada College’s Norval Outdoor School.




Jodie Fluit

Jodie Fluit, Hon. B.Kin. - Senior Consultant

Jodie has worked as a facilitator and trainer at Adventureworks for over 10 years. Jodie is an experienced outdoor leader and has worked in a variety of experiential education programs. She has extensive experience facilitating and leading youth leadership development programs.

Jodie has worked with young adults for the school of "Outtatown" a travel and service learning program that travels in Canada and internationally. She was also the Dean of Women and an Outdoor Instructor at Summit College. Jodie has also worked as the Assistant Director of "Prosago", a leadership development program at Medeba Adventure Centre.

Jodie Fluit is a graduate of McMaster University with an Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology. In her third and fourth years, she focused on the Outdoor and Adventure Education courses.




Nick Owen

Nick Owen, MBA - Senior Consultant / Lead Installer

Nick Owen joined Adventureworks in 2009 with a passion for facilitation and love of the great outdoors. In addition to his roles as Lead Installer and Project Manager, Nick is a highly qualified Challenge Course Professional delivering our full gamut of Installation, Inspection, Training, and Program services.

Nick’s professional background includes experiences in academia, the public sector, management consulting, and entrepreneurship. His breadth of expertise and knowhow provide exceptional value for our clients.

Nick is a three-time alum of McMaster University holding an Honours Degree in Sociology (Minor in Labour Studies), a Diploma in HR Management, and a Masters in Business Administration.




Shawn Stetson

Shawn Stetson - Senior Consultant

Shawn has been facilitating experiential and adventure based programs for well over a decade. He has worked with a wide range of clientele including educators, students, corporate and professional teams, adjudicated and vulnerable youth, and recreation based programs. Shawn has extensive experience facilitating and managing challenge course programs. His experience directing programs at Camp Maple Leaf, Camp Trillium, YMCA Cedar Glen, and Trails Youth Initiatives has involved training, developing, and supervising various staff teams.

He is a graduate of Seneca College’s Outdoor Recreation Technician and Algonquin College’s Recreation Leadership programs, and holds a Bachelor of Independent Studies from the University of Waterloo. Shawn has presented internationally at both the Association for Experiential Education (AEE) and Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) conferences.
